The creation of the universe began with a huge explosion, named “Big Bang”. From this point, the universe has been expanding ever since. Scientists say that when the mass of the universe has reached a sufficient level, this expansion will come to an end because of gravity, causing the universe to collapse in on itself.
It is also believed that the contracting universe will end in a fierce heat and contraction known as the “Big Crunch.” This would lead to the end of all forms of life as we know them. Renata Kallosh and Andrei Linde, professors of physics from Stanford University, made the following statements on the subject:
The universe may be doomed to collapse and disappear. Everything we see now, and at a much larger distance that we cannot see, will collapse into a point smaller than a proton. Locally, it will be the same as if you were inside a black hole… We have found that some of the best attempts to describe dark energy predict that it will gradually become negative, which will cause the universe to become unstable, then collapse… Physicists have known that dark energy could become negative and the universe could collapse sometime in the very distant future… but now we see that we might be, not in the beginning, but in the middle of the life cycle of our universe.
This is how this scientific hypothesis of the Big Crunch is indicated in the Qur’an:
That Day We will fold up heaven like folding up the pages of a book. As We originated the first creation so We will regenerate it. It is a promise binding on Us. That is what We will do. (Qur’an, 21:104)
In another verse, this state of the heavens is described thus:
They do not measure Allah with His true measure. The whole earth will be a mere handful for Him on the Day of Rising the heavens folded up in His right hand. Glory be to Him! He is exalted above the partners they ascribe! (Qur’an, 39:67)
According to the Big Crunch theory, the universe will begin to collapse slowly and will then increasingly pick up speed. At the end of the process the universe will have infinite density and be infinitely hot and small. This scientific theory runs parallel to the Qur’anic explanation of this particular scientific concept. (Allah knows best)

Bizarre theory suggests time may be running out
18/12/2007 – 18:04:32
Time may literally be running out – and could one day vanish altogether, according to a bizarre new theory.
The suggestion has been put forward to explain a cosmological mystery that has baffled scientists.
A decade ago, measurements of the light from distant exploding stars showed the universe to be expanding at an accelerating rate.
Physicists assumed that a kind of anti-gravitational force must be driving the galaxies apart, and gave it the name “dark energy”.
However, to this day no-one has been able to say what dark energy is or where it comes from.
The new theory from Professor Jose Senovilla, at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao, Spain, offers a radical alternative idea.
He believes there is no such thing as dark energy. Instead, he says we have been fooled into thinking the expansion of the universe is accelerating because time itself is slowing down.
At our local everyday level, the change would be imperceptible.
But it would be obvious from cosmic scale measurements tracking the course of the universe over billions of years.
Astronomers work out the speed of the universe’s expansion from the frequency of light emitted by certain types of supernovae, or exploding stars.
However, these measurements depend on our current perception of time, says Prof Senovilla.
If time has been slowing down, and clocks are now running more slowly than they did long ago, it would appear from our perspective as if things have been speeding up. Looking back over billions of years, galaxies would seem to be travelling away from each other faster and faster at various intervals since the Big Bang.
“Our calculations show that we would think that the expansion of the universe is accelerating,” said Senovilla.
His idea is based on string theory concepts which allow dimensions of space and time to switch from one to another.
If our single time dimension was changing into a new space dimension, it would produce just such an effect.
After billions of years, time would eventually disappear altogether.
“Then everything will be frozen, like a snapshot of one instant, forever,” Prof Senovilla told New Scientist magazine. “Our planet will be long gone by then.”
Prof Gary Gibbons, a cosmologist at Cambridge University, is drawn to the idea.
“We believe that time emerged during the Big Bang, and if time can emerge, it can also disappear – that’s just the reverse effect,” he said.

Hello, Gab, thank you for coming to our site.
The whole article needs to be read to fully understand what is being said. In particular, this part:
Now read this article by New Scientist, specifically this part:
So what Harun Yahya is in fact saying is that the universe expansion is speeding up, but that we are in a phase of possible implosion, and this is an accepted theory by many scientists.
However, if you are of the belief that the universe may continue to expand forever, like many other scientists, then it must be said that life will come to a permanent end regardless, because then the universe will be confronted with the Big Freeze. This theory states that as the universe continues to expand, all planets, stars and other bodies in the universe, will eventually be pulled apart. And for the Earth to be seperated from the Sun does, of course, means imminent death for all life, (or the end of the world).

I read the article ” The Big Crunch”
Today, all astronomic data seems to prove that the universes expansion is accelerating, not decelerating, and that the universes ultimate fate is to be stretched out towards infinity (NOT crunched together to a singularity!)
Iow. the “big crunch” is not considered correct nowdays after the new astronomic data disproved that the expansion was slowing (insteas, it is accelerating)
Please change your site to include at least the information that nothing indicates a “big crunch” (and that all data indicates a accelerating expansion of the universe!)
