Hadith: I am as My servant thinks I am…

On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: Allah the Almighty said:

I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me.
If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and
if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an
assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I draw
near to him a fathom’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at
speed.

It was related by al-Buhkari (also by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn-Majah).

  6. This is one of the most important hadith, thank you for posting. There is so much interest recently in the Law of Attraction, yet the Holy Prophet (S) taught this fundamental lesson 14 centuries ago. That the Universe is like a mirror, and that a proper relationship with the Divine will naturally result in positive and prosperous circumstances. Truly believe that God is merciful and generous and He will be so. Beautiful!

      MashaAllah brother Ihsan,

I totally agreed with you about what our dearest Prophet has taught us on the law of attraction as I have recently watched the video on “the secret” by rhonda byrne. I was thinking to myself that this is definitely taught to us before as they talked about how we are all originally from one source, then I remembered about this hadith and searched for it, hoping to find the relevance and there you are mentioning it ie. the law of attraction. MashaAllah talking about attracting it!

May I also mention the Quranic verse in Surah Ibrahim 14:7
“And when your Lord proclaimed: If ye give thanks, I will give you more; but if ye are thankless, lo! My punishment is dire.”
